If you are lucky enough to make it into Dr. Shapiro’s office you will understand when I say Dr. Shapiro is amazing. For over 30 years I struggled with so many challenges and difficulties related to having ADD. It affected my school years, work, relationships and how I felt about myself. I just thought there was something wrong with me.
I told Dr. Shapiro I couldn’t get organized and was always late for things. So often, people were disappointed because I wasn’t following up or completing tasks or projects. It was so frustrating and often lead to anxiety, how I felt about myself, and even feeling depressed at times. I had dropped out of college several times and even went to several different colleages. Also, I switched jobs frequently and often thought it was the type of job that was the problem. I didn’t realize that it was something I was struggling with.
Dr. Shapiro explained that many of the symptoms that I was describing and had my entire life could be related to my ADHD. We spent time discussing how the ADHD may have affected me and how I felt about getting this diagnosis. He didn’t just throw a label at me and send me on my way. Dr. Shapiro helped me understand the diagnosis, what the treatment would be, what could help and gave me hope!
Halfway into our session, Dr. Shapiro said, with his caring voice “I believe you have ADD and have no idea how you coped so long without addressing it.” I have no idea how he saw it so quickly having seen so many different doctors for years telling me II was hyperactive, had a learning disability, and obsessive-compulsive, etc….
Dr. Shapiro cares enough to listen and ask specific questions, but also actively communicates his conclusions and takes action to help. He changed my life. I believe if you meet him you will understand what I am talking about: It’s not just business for him, he truly loves what he does helping people, and he knows his stuff also. That is something almost impossible to find these days.
I can’t beleive what a relief it was for Dr. Shapiro to help me figure out what was going on. I am so much more hopeful for my future and the goals that I want toaccomplish. There is no way I will ever be able to thank him enough.
There are a ton of doctors out there, but no one I’ve come across as amazing as him.
Thank you, B
